Publication Frequency
TMFJ publishes monthly (12 issues per year). Accepted articles may be published online ahead of their issue as soon as they are finalised, and are then included in the next monthly issue.
Peer Review Policy
All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening for scope, quality, similarity and ethical compliance, followed by double-blind peer review by at least two independent subject experts. Reviewers assess scientific validity, methodological rigour, clarity and adherence to reporting guidelines. Based on the reviews, the editor may accept, request revisions, or decline the manuscript; the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. Editors and board members who author a submission are excluded from its handling.
Ethics and Informed Consent
Research involving human participants must have Institutional Ethics Committee approval and comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and the ICMR National Ethical Guidelines. Clinical trials must be registered with CTRI or another WHO-recognised registry. For case reports and any identifiable clinical images, written informed consent for publication from the patient or legal guardian is mandatory, and case reports must follow the CARE guidelines.
Publication Ethics
TMFJ follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the ICMJE Recommendations. Allegations of misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, authorship disputes or undisclosed conflicts of interest) are investigated according to COPE flowcharts and may result in rejection, correction or retraction.
Corrections and Retractions
Errors identified after publication are corrected through a published correction notice linked to the original article. Articles found to contain unreliable findings or misconduct are retracted following COPE guidelines; retracted articles remain online and are clearly marked.
Open Access Policy
TMFJ provides immediate, barrier-free open access to all published content. In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of all articles without subscription or embargo.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their work. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits sharing and adaptation provided the original authors and TMFJ are properly cited.
Self-Archiving Policy
Authors may deposit any version of their work (preprint, accepted manuscript or the published article) in an institutional or subject repository, on a personal or institutional website, or on academic networking sites, at any time and with no embargo. The original publication in TMFJ must be cited, with its DOI or URL once available. Posting a preprint is not considered prior publication. Because articles are published under CC BY 4.0, readers may also share and reuse them with attribution.
Generative AI Policy
Authors: AI tools cannot be listed as authors or take responsibility for a work. Any use of generative AI for writing, editing, translation, data analysis or image generation must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgements, naming the tool and how it was used. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of everything submitted; AI must not be used to fabricate or manipulate data, images or references.
Reviewers and editors: Manuscripts are confidential. Reviewers and editors must not upload a manuscript, or any part of it, or their review comments into a generative AI tool, and must not use AI to write the review or decision. Reviewers may use AI only for light language polishing of their own comments, without including any manuscript content.
Article Processing Charges (APC) and Waivers
TMFJ charges no submission, review, page or colour fees. An Article Processing Charge is invoiced only after a manuscript has been accepted following peer review:
- Indian authors: ₹14,999
- Foreign authors: US$200
The APC supports editorial management, copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration, hosting and long-term preservation. Full or partial waivers may be granted to corresponding authors from low- and middle-income countries and to researchers or trainees demonstrating financial hardship. Waiver requests are handled confidentially and have no influence on editorial or peer-review decisions.
Sponsorship and Editorial Independence
TMFJ maintains editorial independence from academic institutions, commercial entities and sponsors. Authors must disclose all sources of funding, grant numbers and the role of funders in the study.
Archiving and Digital Standards
TMFJ runs on Open Journal Systems (OJS) and exposes its metadata through OAI-PMH for harvesting. The journal is implementing Crossref DOI registration for every published article, long-term preservation through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), and JATS XML production to support future PubMed Central submission.
Privacy Statement
Names, affiliations and contact details entered on this site are used only for editorial communication, peer review and publication notices, and are never sold or shared with third parties.
Indexing Roadmap
As a newly launched journal, TMFJ is not yet indexed in bibliographic databases. Its policies and workflows are designed to meet the criteria of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Scopus, Web of Science and the National Library of Medicine (PubMed/PMC), and the journal will apply to each as it builds the required publication record.
